Limalama is the American Samoan Martial Art created by Grand Master Tuumumao "Tino" Tuiolosega and passed down to his son and Senior Master Rudy Tuiolosega.
Limalama’s distinguishing characteristic is its grounding in historical Samoan/Polynesian martial arts – including wrist lays, hand-traps, and bone dislocation and breaking, along with knife and stick techniques. The art has a wide following in South and Central America. There are also a number of schools active in the United States and Europe with the headquarters located in Texas.
The word LimaLama, is a word that Grand Master Tino Tuiolosega created which means "The Hand of Wisdom." Tu'umanao 'Tino' Tuiolosega was born on Utulei, Tutila, American Samoa on July 2, 1931. He was the only son of King Tu'umamao Tuiolosega of the island of Olosega and Sapo Pomele and the grandson of the last King of all the Samoan Islands, His Royal Highness King Tuiolosega Tagaloa. The Art was created by incorporating the best characteristics of many different arts, starting with the Polynesian fighting style called LUA. LimaLama is a registered trademark, all rights reserved.
